KNOW THE DIFFERENCE?? What is best for you?

BASIC EDIT VS A RETOUCHED EDIT: The choice between editing and photo retouching will depend on your specific needs and goals when post-processing your images, whether for personal use or commercial purposes. Both techniques have advantages and disadvantages, and it's essential to understand your needs to choose the one that best suits your situation.

EDITING TECHNIQUES: Photographers & editors are not equal. Different editing techniques are based on the photographer/editorโ€™s style and knowledge.

BASIC EDIT: Basic editing techniques consist of: color correction, exposure adjustment, contrast adjustment, sharpness adjustment, cropping, and resizing. They can be used individually or in combination to achieve the desired effect. No skin retouching applied and excludes the removal of background objects or distractions.

MINOR RETOUCH: A basic edit is applied without any extensive skin retouching, but includes the removal of distractions and unwanted objects (photographer's discretion, ex. people, litter, signs, minor blemishes) to a certain degree, which varies per photo and person. A Minor Retouch gives an image a cleaner look!

FULL RETOUCH: On the other hand, a full photo retouch includes all basic editing features, but is a more specialized technique thatโ€™s used to make subtle or significant changes to an image by removing imperfections from the background, clothing, and all types of skin. A full retouch can encompass blending skin imbalances, adjusting skin tones, enhancing makeup, refining contouring, removing stray hairs, and much more. It's often used in commercial and fashion photography to create a polished and flawless appearance.

CONCLUSION: A basic edit is okay for most occasions, especially when capturing images in natural light and from a distance. When taking professional-grade portraits, mid-body to up close with flash is an entirely different story, as flash picks up all imperfections and 100% of details. I take pride in meticulously retouching images, prioritizing quality over quantity to deliver professional-grade flash and create dramatic visuals.
